More flexible visualizations/plotting (2D, 3D) in gnuradio (companion)?

Hi,

Has anyone performed more sophisticated plotting than the simple Time/Freq sinks in gnuradio?

What would be really important would be simple function plotting in 2D/3D that could be updated via messages.
For example like pyplot/matplotlib?

Anyone knows a solution that works without too much additional work/issues/manual coding, maybe even in grc out of the box?
