The repos are outdated. I ran into the same problem when first getting started too.
You need to compile both UHD and GNUradio from source to get the versions you want.
Ettus has a great (very thorough) guide on how to do this.
*tip: instead of 'make' you can type 'make -j 2' in order to greatly speed you the compiling process. (only if you have 6 gigs of ram or more)
