We get an email on boot from the instance, so we know when these
happen (it didn't.)
My guess was it was a transient network connectivity issue for some
routes into the AWS region. I have a once-per-minute continuous ping
on the instance and didn't see anything unusual.
We've recently been subject to a few (unsuccessful) TCP SYN flood
attacks, which might have affected things, but not in the last couple
days.
